Investor management

LUSID’s investor management module for transfer agency enables you to model any investor structure and store all back-office data in one system:

  • An investor can be represented in LUSID as either a Person or a Legal Entity (representing a corporation or institution), whichever is more appropriate.

  • An investor record collates, in one place, all the information required to validate an investor in a particular jurisdiction, for example address information, KYC status, payment details and tax records. An investor might have many investor records in different jurisdictions.

  • An investment account links an investor record (and its underlying investor) to the portfolio(s) storing their investments.

  • An investment portfolio stores a record of investment activity, for example subscriptions and redemptions, or dividend distributions for re-investment.

Consider the following example scenarios for a Person investor:

Single jurisdication

Multiple jurisdictions

Joint account

An investment account has a type that determines the ultimate investor structure:

  • An Individual account must link (through an investor record) to a single Person investor.

  • A Corporate account must link to a single Legal Entity investor.

  • A Joint account can link either to a group of Person investors or a group of Legal Entity investors.

  • A  Nominee account must link to a single Person or Legal Entity acting on behalf of other investors.

To get started, choose whether to manage investors in the LUSID web app or programmatically.
