Creating and managing packages containing resources

Prev Next

You can use the Data Management > Configuration Setup dashboard in the Admin Portal to create, edit and version control packages containing configuration resources, in preparation for deploying those packages to target domains.

Creating a new package

  1. Click the Create new button:

  2. Specify a Deployment ID (any string), nominate a Source domain whose configuration resources you want to select from, and click the Set up resources button:

  3. On the Select resources tab, choose a resource type from the left-hand menu, for example Transaction Type, and then the resources of that type you wish to add to the package, for example Subscription and Redemption:

  4. Navigate to the Resolve dependencies tab. The Admin Portal flags resources that have dependencies; you must include them in the package as either resources or references, and then click the Apply Selection button:

  5. Click the button to navigate to the Preview and export tab. Note the package is a JSON file with a file name (highlighted in yellow) and the deployment ID you specified (in green):

  6. Click the Save configuration button and export the JSON package file to an appropriate location:

Editing an existing package

Note that if you edit a package you have already deployed and then subsequently deploy the package again, target domains are updated to match the new desired state. In particular, if you remove a resource from the package then that resource is deleted from target domains. More information.

  1. Click the Edit existing button:

  2. Load the JSON package file to edit, nominate a Source domain whose configuration resources you want to add to or remove from the package, and click the Set up resources button:
