Using Mesa dashboards to monitor live data

You can visualise and monitor your data with customizable widgets and near-realtime updates using Mesa dashboards. Mesa abstracts away the underlying complexity of LUSID, providing role-appropriate interfaces for data administration, dashboard creation, and portfolio monitoring.

Mesa dashboards provide a streamlined way to work with your LUSID data depending on your role and needs:

Understanding Mesa dashboards

Source types and sources

A source type, or dataset, defines the API endpoint from which data can be retrieved in Mesa. For example, the GetValuation API can be a source type.

Sources specify which properties, fields, and identifiers from a given source type are available for use in dashboards. The combination of source types and sources gives you granular control over data exposure and widget configuration.

Workspaces and access control

Mesa dashboards are stored within workspaces. You can control viewing, editing, and administrative rights for Mesa via LUSID’s role-based access permissions for workspaces. See how to create a policy to control access to workspaces.

Creating and using a dashboard

To create a dashboard:

  1. Make source types available in Mesa

  2. Select the required sources for your dashboard

  3. Add widgets to the dashboard and configure each widget by specifying:

    • Data selection from available sources

    • Filter criteria to refine displayed data

    • Visualisation parameters, including chart type and formatting options

  4. Order and resize the widgets to suit your needs.

  5. Save the dashboard to make it available to permissioned users.
