There may be circumstances in which you are provided with a JSON document containing details of an access control policy. Providing you are a LUSID user with sufficient privileges, you can use the LUSID web app to create a policy from the JSON document. Note if you are the LUSID domain owner, you are automatically assigned the built-in `lusid-administrator` role, which has all the permissions necessary to perform the operations in this article. Once created, you should assign the policy to a [role](/v1/docs/what-is-a-role). 1. Log in to the [LUSID web app](https://www.lusid.com/app) using the credentials of a LUSID administrator. 2. From the left-hand menu, select **Identity and Access > Policies**: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/d575ad81-c0ed-4980-bbd1-d59ac5c3de82/Images/Documentation/image(266).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-04T02%3A00%3A50Z&se=2026-11-04T03%3A00%3A50Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=QRZTCX0bt1imG1%2BRZEVjafMFFe2xtXicEJSHRyOVIiI%3D) 3. On the **Policies** dashboard, click the **Create policy** button. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/d575ad81-c0ed-4980-bbd1-d59ac5c3de82/Images/Documentation/image(267).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-04T02%3A00%3A50Z&se=2026-11-04T03%3A00%3A50Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=QRZTCX0bt1imG1%2BRZEVjafMFFe2xtXicEJSHRyOVIiI%3D) 4. Choose to create a policy using the **JSON** editor: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/d575ad81-c0ed-4980-bbd1-d59ac5c3de82/Images/Documentation/image(268).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-04T02%3A00%3A50Z&se=2026-11-04T03%3A00%3A50Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=QRZTCX0bt1imG1%2BRZEVjafMFFe2xtXicEJSHRyOVIiI%3D) 5.
