# Custom relational datasets

You can store large volumes of tabular data in a custom dataset (equivalent to a relational database table) and relate each record to one or more entities.

You can then query entities for related records, and join multiple datasets for use in a variety of applications throughout LUSID.

> **Note**: The following entity types currently support association with datasets: `Portfolio`, `Instrument`, `Transaction`, `LegalEntity`, `Person`, `InvestorRecord`, `InvestmentAccount`, `Holding`, `SettlementInstruction`. Other entity types coming soon.
